Canada's National Action Plan on Women, Peace and Security

Canada’s second National Action Plan on Women, Peace and Security was released on November 1, 2017 at an event in Ottawa that included an address by Foreign Affairs Minister Chrystia Freeland and the participation of Status of Women Minister Maryam Monsef, Defence Minister Harjit Sajjan, and Minister for International Development Marie-Claude Bibeau. As well, a large number of civil society representatives were in attendance.

The new national action plan, referred to by the government as the WPS NAP, is available on the Global Affairs Canada website, in addition to links to the implementation plans of the participating government bodies and the Theory of Change for the plan. New government participants in this version of the plan include Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada, Public Safety, and the Department of Justice.

In the new year, the Women, Peace and Security Network – Canada (WPSN-C) will be publishing a collection of articles analyzing the new WPS NAP.
