Episode 1: COPLA, Part 1
The episode is part one of a workshop that was presented at the World Social Forum in Montreal in Augsut 2016 by Florencia Gor, with input from Nick Christie and Dr James Christie. All are members of WFMC. Florencia is also vice-president of Democracia Global in Argentina and Nick and Jim are involved in the World Federalist Movement at the international level.
This episode covers the beginning of the workshop, with Nick and Florencia’s introductory remarks on the Campaign. The Campaign for the establishment of a Latin American and Caribbean Criminal Court Against Transnational Organized Crime (or COPLA, after its Spanish acronym) is building a coalition of Latin American and Caribbean organizations committed to the creation of a regional judicial body that would prosecute crimes and promote coordinated security policies, based on the UN Convention on Transnational Organized Crime and its Palermo Protocols.

The episode is part two of the workshop on the Campaign for the establishment of a Latin American and Caribbean Criminal Court Against Transnational Organized Crime (COPLA).
This episode covers the middle of the workshop and Dr Christie’s explanation of the development of the International Criminal Court and the role that civil society played – and continues to play in its evolution. He also touches on the similarities – and differences! – between the ICC and the COPLA proposal.
