The International Criminal Court and the United States

Earlier this month, our TakeAction addressed US National Security Advisor John Bolton’s recent remarks about the International Criminal Court. (You can watch the speech or read the full text.)

This week, US President Donald Trump reiterated many of the same points when he addressed the United Nations General Assembly.

Although on Tuesday this week, Canada did, along with Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Paraguay, and Peru, submit a request to the International Criminal Court to investigate the situation in Venezuela, there remains a need for explicit Canadian support of the Court. Go to this month’s TakeAction and send an email to Foreign Affairs Minister Chrystia Freeland asking her to reiterate Canada’s support for the International Criminal Court in light of the statements from Bolton and Trump.
