Coalition for the UN We Need hosts online “Global Town Hall”

Over 100 supporters of the Coalition for the UN We Need (C4UN) joined a Global Town Hall meeting June 22 to take stock of recent campaign developments and discuss the much-anticipated UN75 report from Secretary-General Antonio Guterres. The meeting reviewed the results of six Expert Roundtable meetings held earlier this year that focused on the UN75 Declaration’s 12 commitments. It also heard reports from recent online C4UN Regional Consultations held in Africa, Asia-Pacific (a separate youth consultation as well as a meeting of NGO networks), Latin America and Caribbean, Middle East and North Africa, and Europe / North America.

The Coalition for the UN We Need (C4UN) is dedicated to transforming the UN system by promoting an inclusive people-centered multilateralism in partnership with civil society, governments, and UN officials. The campaign has focused on using the 75th anniversary of the UN as an opportunity to take stock and strengthen the organization and international cooperation more broadly. The upcoming Secretary-General’s report on “Our Common Agenda” (expected early September) is now widely seen as an opportunity to begin a process that can resuscitate multilateralism and strengthen the institutional foundations of global governance.
